Tragedy has struck the Kobape area of Abeokuta, Ogun State, following the killing of a retired Ogun State Television (OGTV) staff member, Mrs. Kitan Oyesiku, popularly known as Aunty Kitan, and her security guard by yet-to-be-identified assailants. The victims were found dead on Sunday at the residence of the former Senior Programme Producer in the Agodo community along the Kobape axis of Abeokuta. Police said the deceased broadcaster's vehicle was also missing from the premises.

Community Thrown into Mourning

The incident, believed to have occurred during the night, has left residents, family members, friends and former colleagues of the veteran broadcaster in shock and mourning. Sources within the community said suspected attackers may have invaded the residence on Saturday night, killing Mrs. Oyesiku and her security guard before fleeing with her vehicle and mobile phone.

Mrs. Oyesiku, who retired from Ogun State Television after decades of service, was widely respected in media circles for her professionalism and commitment to broadcasting. Fondly known as "Aunty Kitan," she earned admiration from colleagues and audiences alike for her contributions to the media industry.

Police Detail Discovery at Residence

Confirming the incident, the Ogun State Police Command said it had commenced a full-scale investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths. In a statement issued on Sunday, the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the matter was reported at the Owode Egba Police Division by a resident of Iyana Agodo Village who became concerned about unusual activities at the residence.

According to the police spokesman, detectives were immediately deployed to the scene to carry out preliminary investigations.

The corpse of the security guard was discovered within the security post, while the body of Ms. Kitan Oyesiku was later found inside her apartment. The victim's vehicle was also observed missing from the premises.

The police said preliminary observations revealed signs of forced entry and disturbance within the compound, indicating possible foul play.
