The universities and research partners are strengthening international collaboration in future energy and electrochemical systems, with a technology demonstration planned during the delegation's visit to FUTO.

The Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), has reaffirmed its commitment to advancing future energy research and innovation through international collaboration with Swansea University and the Faraday Institution in the United Kingdom.
The commitment was reiterated during a courtesy visit by a delegation from Swansea University to the Vice-Chancellor on Monday, October 26, 2026, at the Vice-Chancellor’s Conference Room. The delegation was led by Professor Serena Mongaolomma, alongside a team lead from the Faraday Institution, UK.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor I.N.S. Dozie, was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Engr. Professor Remy Uche.
The collaboration is being facilitated through the African Centre of Excellence in Future Energies and Electrochemical Systems (ACE-FUELS), led by Professor Emeka Oguzie, the immediate past Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research Development and Innovation).

Speaking on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Uche thanked the Swansea University delegation for its continued support for FUTO’s research and innovation agenda.
He urged researchers across the university to take advantage of the ongoing collaborative activities, noting their potential to strengthen research capacity, promote technological advancement and enhance FUTO’s visibility within the global academic community.

Professor Uche also wished ACE-FUELS and the visiting delegation success in their technology demonstration, expressing optimism that the engagement would yield meaningful outcomes in energy research, innovation and sustainable development.
The visit reflects FUTO’s efforts to strengthen international research engagement and advance its contribution to technological development in Nigeria’s energy sector.
