Professor Chiedozie Egesi, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of Umudike Seeds, has been named one of the 2026 Top Agri-food Pioneers by the World Food Prize Foundation in recognition of his contributions to agricultural research, innovation and food security. The honour was announced as part of the Foundation's 40th anniversary celebrations, during which 40 outstanding innovators from 30 countries across six continents were recognised for their transformative contributions to the global food and agriculture sector.

Prof. Egesi's selection places him among a distinguished group of scientists, researchers, entrepreneurs and development experts whose work has significantly advanced sustainable agriculture and improved food systems worldwide. According to the organisers, the recognition highlights his exceptional contributions to agricultural research and innovation, as well as his commitment to advancing food security and sustainable development.
