Suspect Remanded in Kirikiri Over Viral Domestic Violence Video

A suspected domestic violence offender, Emeka Joseph, has been arrested, charged to court and remanded in the Kirikiri Correctional Centre over the alleged assault of a woman identified as Ezeka Chisom. The Lagos State Police Command disclosed this on Wednesday, following the circulation of a viral video alleging that Joseph physically assaulted Chisom.

According to the Command, preliminary investigations revealed that the victim sustained facial injuries during the assault allegedly perpetrated by the suspect, with whom she had been cohabiting. The Police Public Relations Officer, Lagos State Command, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said in a statement that the suspect had been arraigned before a court of competent jurisdiction and subsequently remanded pending further proceedings.

The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, reaffirmed the Command's commitment to combating domestic violence and ensuring that perpetrators are brought to justice. He stressed that the Command maintains a zero-tolerance stance on all forms of domestic abuse and violence, assuring residents that reports of such incidents would continue to receive prompt attention.

He further urged members of the public to promptly report incidents of domestic violence and other criminal activities to the nearest police station or formation for immediate intervention. The case has been adjourned until August 3, 2026, for further hearing.
