Young Future Connect opens free registration for nationwide youth mentorship programme
Thousands of young Nigerians are expected to gain access to mentorship, internships, professional networking and employment opportunities following the opening of registration for Young Future Connect, YFC - a new youth development initiative aimed at tackling unemployment and preparing young people for the demands of the modern workforce. The programme, founded by Dr. Uzu Onyemaechi Robert and powered by RUZU Foundation, is designed to connect youths with industry professionals, practical skills training and career development opportunities across multiple sectors of the economy.

Speaking on the initiative, Dr. Robert said the programme was established to provide young people with the guidance, exposure and support needed to build successful careers and become economically productive. According to him, the platform seeks to bridge the gap between education and employment by equipping participants with market-relevant skills while creating pathways to internships and job placements.
We want to pull as many youths as possible away from the streets and position them to actualise their chosen careers. The platform will provide mentorship, practical skills, career guidance and opportunities that can help them succeed.
— Dr. Uzu Onyemaechi Robert, Founder, Young Future Connect
Dr. Robert disclosed that the programme would leverage technology to ensure nationwide participation, with about 90 per cent of its training activities delivered online. He explained that the virtual learning structure would remove geographical barriers and enable youths from different parts of the country to access quality training and mentorship regardless of location. The initiative will bring together professionals from diverse fields including journalism, digital marketing, content creation, software development, cybersecurity, data analysis, hospitality, sports, agribusiness, fashion, financial technology, media and entertainment. To support its objectives, Young Future Connect has also constituted a Board of Directors comprising professionals from key industries, who will provide strategic direction and mentorship support for participants.
Dr. Robert noted that one of the programme's key attractions is direct access to experienced professionals who can guide participants in making informed career decisions. He said participants interested in journalism, content creation, acting, filmmaking, software development or digital marketing would be paired with working professionals in those fields to determine whether a career path truly suits them and to give them a strong foundation to pursue it successfully.
Internships, certifications and income opportunities in the pipeline
Beyond mentorship and skills development, Dr. Robert revealed that discussions were ongoing with corporate organisations and tertiary institutions to create opportunities for internships, certifications and employment. He said the programme already has contacts and networks in hospitality, media, acting and sports that can expose participants to career opportunities across those sectors. The founder further disclosed plans to introduce digital entrepreneurship and marketing programmes to help young people generate income while developing their careers, connecting them to opportunities that allow them to earn commissions and build sustainable income streams.
We want to create a system where young people can start making money even before they enter higher institutions or while they are still pursuing their education. We will provide them with digital marketing skills and create opportunities for them to promote brands and earn commissions from their efforts.
— Dr. Uzu Onyemaechi Robert
Registration for the programme has commenced and is currently free for interested applicants nationwide. Successful applicants will be enrolled into dedicated online learning communities for orientation and training, while a physical orientation programme will later be organised to facilitate networking and interactions with industry experts. Dr. Robert described the initiative as a long-term intervention aimed at building a sustainable support system for Nigerian youths and nurturing future leaders across different professions.
It is a foundation that makes the pursuit of one's career easier. There will be direction, mentorship and opportunities. We want to become a pillar for youth development and help shape a generation of future leaders and professionals.
— Dr. Uzu Onyemaechi Robert
Organisers expressed optimism that the initiative would attract thousands of young Nigerians and contribute significantly to talent development, job creation and youth empowerment across the country.
