Sheggz’ lawyers issue cease-and-desist notice to Bella over alleged defamatory statements

Allegations of Defamation and Financial Debt

Lawyers representing reality TV personality Mr. Segun Olusemo, popularly known as Sheggz, have issued a cease-and-desist notice to Miss Chidimma Esther Okagbue, popularly known as Bella, over alleged defamatory statements and publications against their client. In a letter dated August 21, 2026, the solicitors demanded an immediate end to what they described as false and malicious statements concerning Olusemo, his siblings, and other members of his family.

The lawyers stated that Olusemo and Okagbue were previously in a relationship which has since ended. They expressed surprise that following their separation, Okagbue allegedly made statements portraying Olusemo as verbally and physically abusive and as a person unworthy of public trust. The allegations attributed to Okagbue include claims of violence and an assertion that Olusemo borrowed N11 million from her without repayment.

Impact on Family and Cyberbullying Claims

The legal notice further alleged that Okagbue made statements involving Olusemo’s siblings, mother, and other family members, while engaging in conduct described as cyberbullying. The solicitors claimed that she threatened to use social media, bloggers, and influencers to cause their client severe mental distress, affecting his standing among business associates and the public.

The solicitors noted that their client and his family had become aware of communications of these statements to third parties through platforms including X, TikTok, Instagram, and Snapchat. They warned that the publication of unverified and allegedly false accusations could attract civil liability for libel and slander, adding that such conduct could also have criminal implications where malice is established.

Demands for Retraction and Digital Removal

The lawyers claimed that Olusemo has suffered substantial harm to his mental wellbeing, business, reputation, and character, while alleging that members of his family have also suffered reputational damage. Consequently, they demanded that Okagbue immediately cease granting interviews or sharing statements concerning Olusemo, his parents, and his business interests.

Further demands included the removal of posts, comments, and other digital content containing the alleged statements from all platforms under Okagbue’s control. The solicitors also requested the publication of a "clear and conspicuous written retraction or apology" on the same platforms where the interviews or statements were originally shared.
