Rotary Club of Lagos Golden Hearts Ikeja gets new president as Sobowale takes charge

Leadership Transition and Strategic Vision

United States-based healthcare executive, entrepreneur, and community leader, Rotarian Olufemi Paul Shobowale, has returned to Lagos to assume leadership of the Rotary Club of Lagos Golden Hearts Ikeja. Serving as the third President for the 2026–2027 Rotary year, Shobowale has pledged to strengthen the club's humanitarian activities through membership growth, impactful community projects, and enhanced public engagement.

Shobowale noted that his administration would focus on expanding the club's community impact while promoting Rotary's ideals of service above self. His commitment to serving humanity has remained a consistent thread throughout his academic, professional, and Rotary careers.

Academic Roots and Early Leadership

Shobowale’s leadership journey began during his time at the University of Lagos, where he studied Economics and combined academic pursuits with student leadership and community service. He credits this period with shaping his passion for youth development and humanitarian work.

I graduated with a degree in Economics from the University of Lagos, one of Nigeria's foremost institutions of higher learning. My leadership and humanitarian journey began as a student when I served as President of the Rotaract Club of Lagos, University of Lagos, the first Rotaract Club in Nigeria, while simultaneously serving as President of the Nigerian Economics Students Association during the 1986/1987 academic session.

Following his graduation and completion of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Shobowale relocated to the United States. There, he pursued further studies in Healthcare Administration at the University of the District of Columbia, laying the foundation for a career in management.

Professional Career and Humanitarian Dedication

In the United States, Shobowale built a career in healthcare management, eventually rising to the position of Chief Executive Officer at Amerihope Mental Health Services. He has also established a presence in the real estate sector as a realtor and property manager, all while maintaining his dedication to philanthropy.

His dedication to Rotary's principles has earned him recognition as a Paul Harris Fellow Plus (PHF+). Outlining his vision for the Rotary Club of Lagos Golden Hearts Ikeja, Shobowale emphasized that his administration will prioritize initiatives capable of delivering sustainable benefits to local communities.
