Retired police personnel in Lagos have called for improved police-public relations and integrity in service delivery during a valedictory ceremony at SCID, Panti.

ASP Udoh Patrick, who recently retired after 35 years of service, has urged serving police officers to cultivate and maintain cordial relationships with members of the public. Speaking at a ceremony held at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Patrick highlighted the importance of humility and respect in professional conduct.
He emphasized that the perception of the police as enemies must change, advocating for a partnership model to ensure effective peace and security. According to Patrick, regular interactions between law enforcement and local communities are essential for building the trust and confidence necessary for modern policing.

Addressing the ethical conduct of serving personnel, Patrick advised officers to demonstrate moderation and honesty in their daily interactions. He particularly warned against the harsh treatment of citizens, noting that such actions undermine the reputation of the Force.
The retired officer also touched upon the handling of evidence, stressing that integrity in managing exhibits and other recovered items remains essential to strengthening public confidence. He called on officers to handle all recovered items with the highest level of responsibility to strengthen the institutional image of the Nigeria Police Force.
For DSP Rita Momah, who retired after serving 35 years within the Lagos State Command, the transition represents an opportunity to rest after decades of dedication to public safety. Momah expressed satisfaction with her retirement, noting that her years in the police exposed her to diverse experiences and provided opportunities to learn important lessons while contributing to society.
The valedictory event at SCID, Panti, served as a platform for the command to celebrate the departing officers. The ceremony acknowledged their long-standing contributions to policing and security within Lagos State and the country at large.
