The Lagos State Police Command and the National Youth Service Corps have reinforced their partnership to bolster the safety and welfare of corps members. This collaboration aims to provide a secure environment for young Nigerians as they undertake their national service across Lagos State.

The Lagos State Police Command and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) have strengthened their partnership on the safety and security of corps members serving across the state. This development followed a familiarisation visit by the NYSC Lagos State Coordinator, Mrs. Christiana Salmwang, to the Command Headquarters in Ikeja.
Accompanied by members of her team and serving corps members, Mrs. Salmwang met with the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai. The visit was aimed at further strengthening the existing relationship between the police and the NYSC, while enhancing collaboration on the protection and welfare of corps members deployed to different parts of Lagos.

During the engagement, CP Tijani Fatai expressed appreciation for the NYSC delegation's visit and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustaining its partnership with the scheme. He noted that the police would continue to work closely with the NYSC to ensure that corps members operate in a safe environment throughout their period of national service.
The commissioner also emphasised the importance of continued collaboration between both institutions, particularly in addressing security concerns that could affect corps members. He highlighted the necessity of ensuring their safety while they carry out their various national service responsibilities across the state.

The engagement provided an opportunity for both organisations to further strengthen communication and cooperation on security matters involving corps members. The police command maintained that the partnership remains vital to fostering a secure environment for national service and protecting the well-being of young Nigerians serving in Lagos.
The visit concluded with both institutions reaffirming their dedication to working together. This joint effort seeks to promote the safety and security of all young Nigerians deployed to the state for their mandatory national service period.
