The quiet of hideouts in the Iseyin and Saki areas of Oyo State was shattered after months of discreet police surveillance culminated in the arrest of 10 suspected members of an alleged human parts dealing syndicate. What began as intelligence gathering and painstaking monitoring by operatives of the Oyo State Police Command’s Monitoring Unit reportedly ended with the recovery of items that have raised fresh concerns over the trafficking of human body parts for ritual purposes.

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, disclosed the development in a statement on Saturday, explaining that the arrests were the result of an intelligence-led operation. The breakthrough enabled operatives to identify and apprehend the suspects at various locations after gathering sufficient data on their alleged activities.

Following the arrests, the operatives searched the suspects’ hideouts and recovered several suspected human parts and charms.

Among the exhibits recovered from the suspects’ hideouts were a suspected human heart, human flesh, pieces of a human skull, and assorted charms. Forensic Examination and Ongoing Investigations
