Olorunda First Lady Leads Market-to-Market PVC Campaign Despite Heavy Rainfall
Despite a heavy downpour, the wife of the Chairman of Olorunda Local Council Development Area, Mrs. Folashade Ajose, on Tuesday led hundreds of women on a mass sensitisation campaign to encourage eligible residents to obtain their Permanent Voter's Cards, PVCs, ahead of the 2027 general elections. The exercise formed part of the ongoing Badagry Division-wide PVC awareness campaign aimed at boosting participation in the Independent National Electoral Commission's Continuous Voter Registration exercise before the current registration window closes next week.

The women visited major markets across the council, including Morogbo Market, Agbokejoye Market in Oko-Afo and Ajagamibo Market in Aradagun, where they moved from shop to shop sensitising traders, artisans and shoppers on the need to register and obtain their PVCs. The mobilisation attracted several prominent women leaders from across Badagry Division, including the wife of the Chairman of Badagry Local Government, Mrs. Elizabeth Hunpe; the wife of the Chairman of Badagry West LCDA, Mrs. Mariam Ibrahim; Mrs. Ramota Onilude, wife of the APC House of Representatives candidate for Badagry Federal Constituency, Hon. Olusegun Onilude; and Hon. Itunuoluwa Ambe Alice, Deputy Leader of the Olorunda LCDA Legislative House. The Council Manager, Alhaji Moruf Adesanya, and the council treasurer, Mrs. Awusinu, also joined the campaign at Mosafejo Town Hall, where hundreds of women gathered for an expanded voter education programme.
Ajose Urges Residents to Back Tinubu and the APC in 2027
Addressing the gathering, Mrs. Folashade Ajose described voting as a constitutional and civic responsibility, stressing that only registered voters with valid PVCs would be eligible to participate in the 2027 general elections. She urged residents, particularly women and members of the All Progressives Congress, APC, to intensify mobilisation for the ongoing registration exercise.

Badagry should demonstrate appreciation for President Bola Tinubu by delivering overwhelming support for him, the APC and all the party's candidates in the next general election.

Mrs. Ajose also cited the emergence of a daughter of Badagry as the APC's deputy governorship candidate as another reason for residents across the division to unite and ensure massive voter turnout. Her position was echoed by Mrs. Elizabeth Oluwatoyin Hunpe, Mrs. Mariam Ibrahim, Mrs. Bukola Bamgbose, Mrs. Arinola Ajose and other speakers, who urged residents to obtain their PVCs and sustain the mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 elections.

Third Leg of Women-Led Campaign Across Badagry Division
Tuesday's exercise marked the third leg of the women-led PVC sensitisation campaign across Badagry Division. The initiative began in Badagry Local Government under the leadership of Mrs. Elizabeth Oluwatoyin Hunpe before moving to Badagry West LCDA, hosted by Mrs. Mariam Ibrahim. The programme was coordinated by the Chief of Staff to the Executive Chairman of Olorunda LCDA, Hon. Cornelius Akinyele, on behalf of the Executive Chairman, Hon. Ajose Peter Kumayon, who commended the participating first ladies for ensuring the success of the exercise despite the heavy rainfall. Organisers expressed confidence that the grassroots mobilisation would significantly boost voter registration across the division ahead of the 2027 general elections.
