Ogun Police nab two one-chance suspects, intensify manhunt for others
Police operatives in Ogun State have apprehended two members of a notorious 'One Chance' robbery syndicate following a high-speed pursuit in Abeokuta. The suspects allegedly posed as commercial taxi drivers to rob unsuspecting passengers of cash and valuables.
Apprehension of the Syndicate Members
The Ogun State Police Command has arrested two suspected members of a notorious “One Chance” robbery syndicate allegedly terrorising commuters in the Abeokuta metropolis. The suspects, identified as Bidemi Tijani, 29, and Olajide Rasaq, 42, were apprehended on August 15, 2026, by operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU).
The arrest followed an intelligence-led operation and a high-speed chase towards the Ita-Oshin area of Abeokuta. The Command, in a statement issued by its Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi B. Babasiyi, noted that the suspects were caught after the police received actionable intelligence regarding their operations.
Modus Operandi and Confession
According to the police, the syndicate members disguised themselves as commercial taxi operators to prey on unsuspecting passengers. They were allegedly involved in dispossessing victims of their mobile phones, cash, and other valuable items within the state capital. Following the tip-off, tactical operatives sighted the suspects in a taxi heading towards Ita-Oshin, triggering a pursuit.
Acting promptly on the tip-off, tactical operatives of the VCRU gave the fleeing robbers a hot chase towards Ita-Oshin, successfully intercepting the vehicle and apprehending the two suspects.

During interrogation, the suspects allegedly confessed to being active members of the robbery syndicate operating within Abeokuta. Their statements were taken under caution as the police work to establish the full extent of the group’s criminal activities and recover relevant exhibits.
Continued Manhunt and Public Advisory
Efforts have been intensified to track down and arrest other members of the syndicate who remain at large. The Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Bode Ojajuni, psc, FCSS, MNIPR, commended the VCRU operatives for their swift response, vigilance, and professionalism during the operation.
CP Ojajuni reiterated the command’s determination to rid the state of criminal elements, warning that criminals would have no safe haven in Ogun State. He also urged residents and commuters to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious persons or criminal activities to the authorities.
