A search of the abandoned school bag resulted in the recovery of 11 assorted iPhones, one HP laptop, and various items of clothing. These items were later identified by the victims of the robbery as their stolen property.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the gang utilized coercion during the operation, forcing one of the victims to transfer N200,000 to a specific bank account. Following the arrests, detectives visited the hostel to document evidence of forced entry and secure the recovered exhibits for further processing.
While search warrants executed at the residences of Dauda and Abiodun did not yield additional incriminating evidence, the Command has transferred the suspects and recovered property to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Eleweran, Abeokuta. This move is intended to facilitate a discreet investigation and eventual prosecution.
The Commissioner of Police for Ogun State, CP Bode Ojajuni, psc, FCSS, MNIPR, commended the Ewekoro operatives for their vigilance and timely intervention. He reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to protect residential communities and student populations from criminal elements.
Efforts are currently ongoing to apprehend other members of the gang who escaped the scene. Additionally, the police are working to identify the owner of the beneficiary account used for the forced N200,000 transfer. The Command advised hostel operators and landlords to maintain emergency contacts and report suspicious activities via the following channels:
