A new digital hub, The Nigerian Community, has been launched to bridge the gap between Nigerians at home and in the diaspora while fostering economic growth. The platform provides a dedicated space for cultural exchange, business promotion, and professional networking tailored to the Nigerian experience.

Nigerians at home and in the diaspora have launched a new digital platform, The Nigerian Community, aimed at providing a dedicated space for citizens to connect, promote businesses, and celebrate the country’s culture. The platform, which is now live at www.nigerian.community, was founded as a social and economic empowerment hub designed to bring Nigerians together while remaining open to global audiences interested in the country's people and commerce.
According to the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of The Nigerian Community, Felix Ofiwe, the initiative was conceived to provide a digital environment specifically tailored to shared Nigerian experiences. He noted that the platform is intended to go beyond conventional social networking by creating an ecosystem where community, commerce, and culture can thrive simultaneously.
We built this platform because we believe Nigerians everywhere deserve a place they can truly call their own, a place where we can truly connect and be ourselves. We use the major social media platforms, but they were never built specifically for us. The Nigerian Community is our opportunity to create a space where Nigerians can connect, express themselves, support one another, and engage with our culture, Nigerian style.
— Felix Ofiwe, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer, The Nigerian Community

The platform is particularly focused on supporting Nigerian and African-owned businesses by providing entrepreneurs with opportunities to showcase their products and services. The founders stated that the initiative enables a wide range of enterprises—from restaurants and fashion brands to technology companies and professional service providers—to reach customers both locally and internationally.
Co-Founder and President of The Nigerian Community, Bernadette Kwuofu-Ofiwe, explained that the platform is designed to help entrepreneurs build communities around their brands rather than simply advertising products. This approach aims to facilitate the exchange of ideas and the development of long-term professional relationships within the community.
The Nigerian Community provides our community with a place to meet other Nigerians, start conversations, discover nearby Nigerian- and African-owned businesses, promote products and services, exchange ideas, share experiences, and build meaningful personal and professional connections.
— Bernadette Kwuofu-Ofiwe, Co-Founder and President, The Nigerian Community
For Nigerians living outside the country, the platform is expected to serve as a vital link to their heritage and fellow citizens. Members of the diaspora can participate in conversations, discover Nigerian-owned businesses in their vicinity, and interact with people across different generations and geographical boundaries. Beyond commerce, the hub provides space for discussions regarding Nigerian traditions, food, creativity, and knowledge sharing.
While established primarily for Nigerians, the platform is intentionally inclusive of other nationalities. CEO Felix Ofiwe emphasized that the richness of Nigerian culture, including culinary traditions like Jollof rice and pounded yam, is open for the global community to discover and learn. The success of the initiative, however, remains rooted in the active participation of its primary members.
The Nigerian Community platform will only become what we envision if Nigerians make it their own. This is an invitation to Nigerians everywhere: come in, connect, contribute, and help us build something that belongs to all of us.
— Bernadette Kwuofu-Ofiwe, Co-Founder and President, The Nigerian Community
