The Lagos Ikoyi Elite Lions Club has announced plans to raise ₦10 million to construct a school library and provide a community borehole in the Ikoyi-Obalende axis. The humanitarian initiative aims to promote literacy and expand access to safe drinking water.

The Lagos Ikoyi Elite Lions Club has unveiled plans to raise ₦10 million to establish a library at Aunty Ayo International School, Obalende, Ikoyi, Lagos, and provide a community borehole in the Ikoyi-Obalende axis as part of its humanitarian initiatives for the 2026–2027 Lions service year.
The projects, announced by the club's fifth president, Lion Soledotun Titilope Abdulkarim-Yusuf, during her investiture alongside other officers for the 2026–2027 Lions service year, are aimed at promoting literacy, improving access to clean water and addressing community needs. Abdulkarim-Yusuf noted that the proposed library would supply critical learning resources and foster a reading culture among pupils, while the borehole project would provide residents with clean and safe water.

She appealed to club members, corporate entities, partners, friends, and well-wishers to support the initiatives, emphasizing that collective contributions remain critical to meeting the club's goals.
Our fundraising target is ₦10 million to support these projects and other approved humanitarian initiatives.
— Lion Soledotun Titilope Abdulkarim-Yusuf, President, Lagos Ikoyi Elite Lions Club

The incoming president pledged to enhance the club's reach through social media advocacy and print publications, stating that effective public communication is essential for attracting partners, establishing public trust, and encouraging wider involvement in grassroots development.
We recognise that service must not only be delivered but also effectively communicated. Our club promotes its activities and humanitarian causes through social media advocacy and newspaper publications. We will continue to strengthen our visibility to attract partners, build public trust, and inspire more people to support our mission.
— Lion Soledotun Titilope Abdulkarim-Yusuf, President, Lagos Ikoyi Elite Lions Club
Outlining the club's commitments, Abdulkarim-Yusuf stated that her administration will carry out at least one impactful service project every month, advance the library and borehole initiatives, and focus on membership growth, engagement, and retention. The club will also prioritize leadership training, advocacy, and prompt activity reporting on Lions Clubs International’s MyLion platform.
On fiscal governance, the president pledged to maintain discipline in deploying club resources, noting that routine monthly expenditure on activities will be capped at ₦100,000, unless additional funds are specifically approved by the Board or secured via outside sponsorship.
Distinguished Lions and guests, I cannot achieve these goals alone. I need your cooperation, participation, ideas, generosity, and commitment. Let us put aside our differences, unite around our shared purpose, and work together to strengthen our club and transform more lives.
— Lion Soledotun Titilope Abdulkarim-Yusuf, President, Lagos Ikoyi Elite Lions Club

Speaking at the investiture, the chairman of the occasion, Omoba Olabode Onanuga, described the ceremony as an opportunity to renew the club's commitment to leadership, accountability, and continuity. He reminded the new administration that service-oriented leadership must prioritize practical community impact over routine procedural meetings.
I don't want you to look upon this honour like a sense of privilege. This is actually more of a responsibility. This isn't a privilege. I want you to also look upon this as a trust, an entrustment of trust. Your members are entrusting you with the responsibility of leading them. You are not meant to see yourself as being above them. You have to be beside them.
— Omoba Olabode Onanuga, Chairman of the Occasion, Lagos Ikoyi Elite Lions Club Investiture
District Governor of District 404A3, Nigeria, Lion (Elder) Johnson Adesegun Efunkomaya, congratulated the newly inaugurated officers and urged members to adopt the district's annual theme, "UNITY IN SERVICE WITH HUMILITY."
