Defense of AIG Jimoh and Call for Due Process

The Ilorin Emirate Integrity Youth Vanguard (IEIYV) has condemned what it described as persistent and unsubstantiated public attacks by social media activist, VeryDarkMan (VDM), against Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Olohudare Moshood Jimoh. The controversy surrounds the Ajiran murder case, with the youth group insisting that any allegations must be pursued through lawful channels rather than social media campaigns.

In a statement signed by the National President of IEIYV, Mallam Alaburo Abdulsalam Sherif, the association expressed confidence in the integrity and professionalism of AIG Jimoh. Operating under the leadership and royal guidance of His Royal Highness, the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji (Dr.) Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, CFR, the group described the officer as a distinguished professional with an established record of dedication, justice, and exemplary service.

Rule of Law Versus Social Media Activism

The group acknowledged the role of VeryDarkMan and other civil society advocates in promoting justice and accountability but maintained that allegations of criminal conduct should be backed by credible evidence. They argued that such claims must be presented before the appropriate investigative and judicial authorities instead of being litigated on social media platforms.

According to the association, while public participation in the pursuit of justice is important, the rule of law must remain the guiding principle in every democratic society. They warned that media trials and online campaigns could undermine confidence in the nation's justice system and cautioned against politicizing a matter that should be left to competent investigative and judicial institutions.

Commitment to Justice and Institutional Integrity

Speaking on behalf of the association, Mallam Alaburo Abdulsalam Sherif described the sustained public criticism directed at AIG Jimoh as unfair and capable of damaging the reputation of an accomplished son of the Ilorin Emirate. The group called on all concerned parties to refrain from actions capable of eroding public trust in the justice system.

The IEIYV stressed that anyone in possession of credible evidence against AIG Olohudare Moshood Jimoh should submit such evidence to the appropriate security agencies or the courts for impartial investigation and adjudication. The association reiterated that justice cannot be achieved through intimidation or unsubstantiated allegations, emphasizing that fairness and respect for the rule of law must remain paramount.
