CP Tijani leads on-site assessment at Pan-Atlantic University after viral video
What began as a disturbing viral video quickly evolved into a demonstration of how proactive security intervention can calm fears and reinforce public confidence. On Wednesday, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, led an on-the-spot security assessment at Pan-Atlantic University, Lekki, following the circulation of a video showing two masked individuals emerging from a forest area adjoining the institution. Accompanied by operational personnel, CP Tijani engaged directly with the institution's management, emphasising the need for continuous strengthening of the university's security architecture across perimeter protection, access control and inter-agency collaboration.

The Command remains committed to the protection of lives and property across Lagos State.

Drones deployed as technology-backed surveillance gets underway
Perhaps the most significant outcome of the assessment was the deployment of surveillance drones by the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, LSSTF, to support law enforcement operations around the university and adjoining communities. In areas with thick vegetation, undeveloped land or limited visibility, aerial monitoring significantly enhances situational awareness - a shift that signals Lagos' growing embrace of technology-driven policing. The deployment, facilitated by the Lagos State Government, is expected to strengthen intelligence gathering and crime prevention efforts around the institution and its environs.

CP Tijani reassured the management, staff, students and parents of Pan-Atlantic University of the Command's readiness to address security concerns and maintain an environment conducive to learning. He urged the institution to sustain close cooperation with security agencies, remain vigilant in addressing emerging challenges and encouraged members of the university community to promptly report suspicious activities through available emergency channels. The Lagos State Police Command reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace and public safety across the state, while urging residents to remain security conscious.
