FUTO VC seeks FERMA intervention to rehabilitate university access road

Appeal for Road Rehabilitation

The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO), Prof. Ikechukwu Nosike Simplicius Dozie, has formally sought the intervention of the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA) for the rehabilitation of the institution’s primary access road. The request was presented during a courtesy visit to the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of FERMA in Abuja.

During the meeting, Prof. Dozie underscored the strategic importance of reliable road infrastructure to the university's ecosystem. He noted that the rehabilitation of the access road is essential for the seamless execution of academic and administrative functions, as well as the general movement of personnel and students within the university community.

Context of the Official Visit

The Vice-Chancellor’s engagement with FERMA was part of a broader official itinerary in the Federal Capital Territory. Prof. Dozie was in Abuja to represent the university at several high-priority meetings, including a session with the House of Representatives Committee on Procurement.

In addition to the legislative engagement, the Vice-Chancellor participated in a specialized meeting convened by the Federal Ministry of Education. This particular gathering brought together representatives from federal universities offering medical programs to discuss sector-specific developments and academic standards.

Agency Response and Partnership

The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of FERMA received the Vice-Chancellor, offering congratulations on his appointment to lead FUTO.
