The First Alternative Secondary School for Girls in Nigeria has officially opened in Lagos, offering a vital second chance to girls whose formal education was previously cut short. Located along Old Ojo Road in Agboju, Amuwo, the institution was commissioned on Friday, August 14. The ceremony was led by the First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, who was represented by the wife of the Vice President, Hajia Nana Shettima.

This initiative specifically targets girls whose schooling was interrupted by various social, economic, or personal challenges. By providing an alternative pathway, the school aims to reintegrate these young women into the formal education system, equipping them with both academic knowledge and practical skills for future economic independence.

She indicated that the Federal Government is currently reviewing further reforms to strengthen the Alternative High Schools for Girls initiative.
