Delta CP warns officers against misconduct, says no room for impunity

CP warns officers on discipline and conduct
The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, has warned officers and men of the command against acts capable of tarnishing the image of the Nigeria Police Force, declaring that there is no longer room for impunity in the Force.
The CP gave the warning on Wednesday during his familiarisation tour of the Warri Area Command. Addressing officers, men of the command, community leaders and other stakeholders during an interactive session, he charged police personnel to uphold the highest standards of discipline, professionalism and integrity in the discharge of their duties.

He urged officers to remain civil in their dealings with members of the public, respect human rights and strictly comply with the Force's extant regulations. The Commissioner also warned officers against engaging in acts capable of bringing the Nigeria Police Force into disrepute.

Reminder on regulations and social media policy
CP Oyeniyi stressed that every officer's conduct must reflect the core values and ethical standards of the Force. His remarks underscored the command's position that professional conduct is expected both in public interactions and within the broader institutional culture of the police.
He also cautioned officers against violating the Nigeria Police Force Social Media Policy, reminding them that their conduct, both online and offline, must at all times conform with the Force's regulations.
The warning formed part of a broader message on accountability and discipline within the command, as the police leadership sought to reinforce compliance with established standards among personnel.
Visits to traditional rulers and community policing push
Earlier during the tour, CP Oyeniyi paid separate courtesy visits to His Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III, the Olu of Warri Kingdom; His Royal Majesty Kingsley Emakpo Orereh, Igbi II, the Ovie of Agbarha-Warri Kingdom; and His Royal Majesty Dr. Ogheneochuko Morris Eyekpimi-Egboboyen, Owhotemu II, the Ovie of Okere-Urhobo Kingdom.
According to the command, the visit forms part of efforts to strengthen collaboration with traditional institutions and deepen community policing across Delta State. During the visits, the Commissioner commended the traditional rulers for their continued support to the Nigeria Police Force and acknowledged the critical role of traditional institutions in maintaining peace, security and social order across their respective domains.
He reiterated the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, psc(+), NPM, on strengthening collaboration with stakeholders and advancing grassroots policing through robust community partnerships.
Traditional rulers pledge support
According to the Commissioner, effective policing can only be achieved through sustained cooperation between the police, traditional institutions and members of the public. He reaffirmed the command's commitment to intelligence-led and community-based policing as part of its operational approach in the state.
In their separate remarks, the monarchs welcomed the Commissioner of Police and pledged their continued support to the Delta State Police Command in its efforts to sustain peace and improve security within their respective kingdoms.
CP Oyeniyi also called on residents and stakeholders to continue supporting the police with timely and credible information. He emphasised that effective policing and public safety remain a collective responsibility requiring active collaboration between security agencies and the communities they serve.
