The Kano State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old woman, Maimunatu Idris, for allegedly stabbing her boyfriend and severing his manhood. The incident reportedly occurred after the suspect discovered that the victim intended to marry another woman.

The alleged attack took place on Sunday at Durbar Hotel, situated in the Badawa area of Kano State. Maimunatu Idris, a resident of Maigatari Local Government Area in Jigawa State, is accused of using a sharp knife during the altercation, which was reportedly sparked by a disagreement over the victim's marriage plans.

Police Response and Evidence Recovery

The command received a distress report from the hotel management at approximately 12:50 p.m. on July 27, 2026. Following the report, the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the Badawa Division mobilized a team of detectives to the scene, where the suspect was apprehended.

Police authorities confirmed that the suspect severed the victim's manhood during the assault. Investigating officers recovered the sharp knife used in the attack, which has been retained as an exhibit for the ongoing investigation.

Following the incident, the victim was immediately evacuated to the Abubakar Imam Urology Hospital. He is currently receiving medical care for the injuries sustained during the attack.

Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police for the Kano State Command, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, condemned the act of violence, describing it as unacceptable. He warned the public against taking the law into their own hands, emphasizing that grievances should be addressed through lawful channels. The command assured residents that a thorough investigation is underway to ensure justice is served.
