Suspected Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists on Saturday night attacked Kautikari village in Chibok Local Government Area of Borno State, setting ablaze a primary school and a day secondary school and forcing residents to flee into nearby bushes for safety. The attack, which occurred at approximately 7 p.m., has heightened fears among residents of the community, which has witnessed repeated insurgent attacks in recent years.

Security Source Confirms Attack, Casualties Unknown

Sources said the terrorists stormed the village and immediately launched the assault, targeting educational facilities while residents scrambled to escape. A security operative from Kautikari, currently based in Maiduguri, confirmed the incident, saying the extent of casualties could not be immediately determined.

Southern Borno Communities Remain Vulnerable

The attack comes amid renewed concerns over the activities of Boko Haram and ISWAP elements in parts of southern Borno, particularly communities within the Chibok axis that have remained vulnerable to insurgent incursions. As of the time of filing this report, details on possible casualties, abductions or the scale of destruction remained sketchy.

Police Yet to Respond, Residents Still in Hiding

Efforts to obtain official confirmation from the Borno State Police Command were unsuccessful, as calls and messages sent to the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Kenneth Daso, were not responded to at press time. Residents and local sources said many villagers had fled into surrounding bushes, while security agencies were yet to issue a statement on the incident.
