An operative of the Oyo State Amotekun corps, Robert Olorode, was beheaded by suspected kidnappers while delivering ransom to secure the release of his abducted younger brother in Kajola Local Government Area.

An operative of the Oyo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun, Robert Olorode, has been beheaded by suspected kidnappers while attempting to secure the release of his abducted younger brother in Kajola Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Olorode was reportedly killed on Saturday, October 24, 2026, after volunteering to deliver ransom to the kidnappers holding his brother, Elijah Okeleye, who was abducted while returning from his farm.
Okeleye, a resident of Afija's Compound in Ilaji-Oke, Kajola Local Government Area, was kidnapped on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, in Saaji-daada, also within Kajola Local Government Area.
Sources said the kidnappers initially demanded N15 million for Okeleye's release two days after his abduction, but later reduced the ransom to N500,000.
In an attempt to secure his brother's freedom, Olorode volunteered to take the ransom to the abductors' hideout on October 24. However, the mission ended tragically, as the kidnappers reportedly beheaded him upon his arrival at the location.
The killing has raised concerns over the dangers faced by families of kidnapping victims as they attempt to negotiate the release of their loved ones.
When contacted, the Bajigan of Ilaji-Oke, Oba Jeremiah Oyeboade Oladosu, confirmed that Olorode was a member of the Amotekun security corps.
However, it was clarified that Olorode went to deliver the ransom in his personal capacity as the victim's elder brother and not in his official capacity as an operative of the state security outfit.
As of the time of filing this report, details of the circumstances surrounding the killing, including whether any arrests had been made, were not available.
