Renewed Calls for Justice in Ajiranland

Concerned civil rights activists have renewed their demand for justice regarding the unresolved killings of Mr. Sheriff Ishola Salami and Prince Kazeem Ademola Akinloye in the Ajiran Community of Eti-Osa Local Government Area, Lagos State. The group expressed concern over the timeline of the fatalities and the need for the judicial process to reach a conclusive end without external interference.

Mr. Salami was killed on April 18, 2023, while Prince Kazeem Ademola Akinloye, the first son of the Ojomu of Ajiranland, was murdered on August 26, 2024. The activists, who have consistently advocated for thorough investigations into both cases, recently conducted a solidarity visit to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Olohundare Jimoh, who currently heads the Zone 2 Command covering Lagos and Ogun states.

The Evolution of the Police Investigation

AIG Olohundare Jimoh was the Commissioner of Police for the Lagos State Command when the formal investigation into these killings began. According to the activists, the Lagos State Police Command acted on a petition from Olarotimi Williams Chambers, which sought a deep probe into the deaths and the prosecution of any culpable individuals. Jimoh, who assumed the role of Commissioner on February 18, 2025, approved the petition and directed the subsequent investigation.

The resulting probe led to the arrest of two suspects who allegedly provided statements to the police regarding the killings and identified other individuals connected to the incidents. This intelligence led the police to declare Lagos businessman Hammed Tajudeen Akanbi, also known as Ahmed Ajiran or Hamed Tajudeen, wanted. Akanbi was later arrested in the Benin Republic and brought into custody.

Safeguarding the Judicial Process

While acknowledging that the matter is currently before the court, the activists stressed that the legal system must be allowed to function without the distraction of public controversy. They voiced concerns regarding recent efforts to discredit the investigation and the officers involved, suggesting that public discourse should remain focused on the victims rather than allegations against police conduct.

The case is in court, and it will be inappropriate to make comments that could prejudice the judicial process. However, the information available to us indicates that justice is being pursued through the appropriate legal channels.

— Spokesperson, Concerned Civil Rights Activists

The group commended AIG Jimoh for his commitment to the case during his tenure in Lagos. They urged the public to rely on verified information and evidence presented in court rather than social media campaigns. The activists concluded by insisting that the memories of Sheriff Ishola Salami and Prince Kazeem Ademola Akinloye must not fade until those responsible are held accountable under the law.
