HASAM Foundation Reaches 1,600 Displaced Persons at Kaura IDP Camp

No fewer than 1,600 internally displaced persons and vulnerable families at the Kaura Internally Displaced Persons Camp in Abuja have benefited from a humanitarian outreach programme organised by HASAM Foundation - the Healthy and Safe Motherhood Foundation. The intervention, led by Founder Dr. Olajumoke Adeniyi, provided essential food support to displaced families as part of efforts to alleviate hardship and improve the wellbeing of vulnerable groups affected by displacement and economic challenges.

Adeniyi: "They Are Seen, Valued, and Not Forgotten"

Speaking during the exercise, Dr. Adeniyi said the Foundation was committed to supporting women, children and vulnerable families who are often the hardest hit during humanitarian crises. She said the intervention was designed not only to provide immediate relief but also to reassure displaced families that they remain important members of society.

As an organization founded on the principles of healthy and safe motherhood, we recognize that women and children are often among the most affected in humanitarian settings. Every displaced person deserves access to food, healthcare, education, protection, and hope for a better future. Through this intervention, we are reminding these families that they are seen, valued, and not forgotten.

Special Consideration for Women, Children and the Elderly

Beneficiaries received food support packages aimed at addressing immediate household needs and strengthening food security within the camp. The Foundation said special consideration was given to women, children, the elderly and other vulnerable groups. Beyond the distribution of relief materials, Foundation members engaged residents with messages of hope, resilience and encouragement, reaffirming their commitment to improving the living conditions of underserved communities.

A representative of the camp management appreciated the gesture and highlighted the strong bond between camp residents and the host community, noting that assistance received is shared among both groups.

We do not eat alone. Whatever support comes to us, we share with the host community because we live together as one family. Acts of kindness such as this strengthen our community and give us hope for a better future.

Foundation Calls for Stronger Partnerships to Support Displaced Populations

HASAM Foundation commended the management of the Kaura IDP Camp, volunteers, community leaders, donors and supporters whose contributions ensured the success of the outreach. The Foundation called on government institutions, development agencies, corporate organisations, philanthropists and civil society groups to strengthen partnerships aimed at improving the lives of internally displaced persons across the country. The outreach, according to the Foundation, contributes to several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals including No Poverty, Zero Hunger, Good Health and Well-Being, and Gender Equality.
